White House says no need to restrict ‘open-source’ artificial intelligence — at least for now

APnews posted a summary of a report from the white house stating no need for restrictions be placed on open-source AI. What this means is the white house doesn’t feel “at this time” there is enough concerns for potential danger of abusing the use of AI. Some people believe AI needs restrictions to avoid creating a very powerful thing that could lead to another CrowdStrike outage while others believe innovation and sales will force organizations to be responsible or the consumer will not buy into AI that holds too much risk. Regardless of which side of the argument you sit on, for now, there are not any rules in place.

My personal belief is there should be some form of responsible AI controls. I’ve posted about responsible AI HERE.
