‘SinkClose’ AMD CPU vulnerability explained: How dangerous is it really?

ZDNet pointed out in a post found HERE a threat that could impact many systems from the ones in large data centers to the computer you are using right now. It’s a CPU vulnerability meaning the attacker could land a rootkit that is extremely hard to detect IE game over for you. The good news is the attacker would have to bypass common security tools to get access to where this vulnerability sits essentially reducing the risk of attackers having a chance to abuse it. Actors must have “kernel-level”, so if that occurs, you likely have bigger problems with your security program. But it is still important to know about this and remediate if you can to avoid the worst day, which would be an attacker gaining access to the kernel-level of one of your systems and planting a rootkit.
