I’ve been asked about suggested training for penetration testing. The most popular programs are the Certified Ethical Hacker CEH (found HERE) and SANs courses (found HERE). There are many books such as the one I wrote with my buddy Aamir (HERE) as well as others I have recommended HERE.
I was provided access to a video series through Packt Publishing titled “Expert Metasploit Penetration Testing [Video]” and found it to be pretty useful for those looking to learn how to use Metasploit. This series doesn’t have any marketing fluff and breezes over general concepts meaning the majority of the training is technical hands on use cases with Metasploit. Each video is pretty short (3-6 minutes) and focused on executing a particular command. Some concepts assume things that are not real world (IE windows systems vulnerable to attacks that are not that common) but outside of that, its pretty good as showcasing how to use Metasploit. All in all, this series is useful for people looking to gain a hands on understanding of Metasploit as well as understanding how to perform basic penetration testing exercises.
You can see a sample video of this series HERE and purchase it HERE. Its $24 dollars from the Packt’s website.
