Well, it seems one impact of the new US administration is a lean towards reducing policing speech on social media. Is this a good thing? Some say yes as it allows for true unfiltered speech. Others say it’s dangerous as bots and other sources can overrun social media with false information. Many people rely solely on social media for news so if they see something, its real news regardless of how factual it may be.
I recall seeing studies (do the research yourself to validate) showing how politics have dramatically been influenced by social media meaning fake stories posted through social media have swung elections. Fake data can be really dangerous if it involves health advice such as many bad recommendations to reduce the risk of Covid 19 including fake science about the vaccines. Meta and other social media sources have been running scanning for this type of risk however, it seems like some of these checks will be removed.
